Roosters Cup Resumes This Weekend
Ben Graham posted Wednesday February 24, 2010. |
After a two month hiatus, the Roosters Cup V8 Dirt Modified series roars back into life this Saturday night, with Round Two being staged at the Brisbane International Speedway. An impressive 25-car field will be on hand, all vying for valuable series points.
Reigning Australian Champ Peter Britten sits atop the points standings and will be on a mission to consolidate his points lead this weekend. Saturday nights event marks Britten's final Australian appearance of the season, with the Brisbane resident set to spend the next few months in the United States.
Canadian Pete Bicknell currently sits second in the points standings following his first round win in Maryborough in December. With Bicknell not competing in any further rounds of the Series, both David Clark and Mark Robinson are in a prime position to improve on their 3rd and 4th positions on the series ladder.
Last-start Grafton winner Tony Sneddon will be making the trek north from his Singleton base, while Sydney's Matt Ferry is also a nomination, with the second-generation racer planning to contest all hour Roosters Cup series rounds.
No less than a dozen drivers have a legitimate shot at taking home the winners trophy this Saturday night, and with plenty of Series points on the line the competition is set to be fierce.
The field includes: Mick Sauer Ricka Groom Ray Klarich Jim Mee Matt Ferry Kevin Britten Murray Flay Nev Robertson Kelvin Hamilton Keith Muller Andrew Pezzutti Mark Robinson Ray Eggins Maurice Yardley Peter Britten Paul Booker Jai Stephenson Darren Latimer Gerry Wathen Melissa Latimer Barry Ashen David Clark Brian Scott Phil McNamara Tony Sneddon
